Job summary

Fowler Welch, part of the Culina Group, is seeking a Transport Operator to join our team in Teynham on a full-time permanent basis. You will manage vehicle utilisation and give drivers clear, precise instructions to meet service levels while complying with driver hours and safety regulations.

This role offers 4 on 4 off nights (19:00–07:00) with a salary up to £33,000 per annum and opportunities to develop within a growing logistics business dedicated to reliable, cost-efficient transport

Qualifications

• Experience in a distribution/transport environment.
• Ability to manage own workload under pressure.
• Good geographical knowledge.
• Understanding of driver hours regulations/tachograph law.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work on own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Communicate all job details to drivers and sub-contractors.
• Plan driver and fleet utilisation across sites.
• Ensure drivers work within safety, hours, and regulations.
• Coordinate with planning to optimise fleet utilisation and timely deliveries.
• Assist in equipment control and recording customer requirements.
• Work with Compliance to keep trucks legal and data downloadable.
• Investigate incidents and address driver performance with supervisors.
• Support discussions with drivers about risk management and fuel efficiency.
• Take on additional tasks as needed.
