Job summary

Gregory Distribution Ltd in Bridgwater is seeking a Transport Operator to oversee night-shift transport operations and administration. You will coordinate day-to-day running, support drivers, and ensure service standards nationwide.

Qualifications

• Previous Transport operations experience within Transport and Logistics industry.
• Knowledge of Manpack traffic system is advantageous.
• Ability to communicate at all levels.
• Strong geographical knowledge of the UK.
• Excellent organisational skills and prioritising workload.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Team player and able to use initiative.
• Computer literate; MS Word, Excel, Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Planning & Organisation: coordinate transport activities across peak and off-peak periods to ensure smooth operations.
• Operational Leadership: manage day-to-day transport challenges and debrief drivers.
• Customer Engagement: build relationships with customers to maintain high service standards.
• Driver Coordination: support and debrief drivers to ensure compliance and performance.
• Resource Management: maximise fleet and resource utilisation through proactive planning.
• Reporting & Analysis: produce regular operational reports and identify trends.
• Communication: handle queries across email, phone, and in person.
• Performance Monitoring: assist in KPI production and daily statistics.
• Operational Support: provide hands-on support during breakdowns or disruptions.
• Team Collaboration: foster positive relationships within the team.
