Night Support Worker required ASAP (Female) – Permanent contract

Salary: GBP25,000 – GBP27,169 (Permanent contract)

About the Client:

The independent residential and special school caters to girls and boys aged 7–19. All students are placed by local authorities and have education, health, and care plans related to autism spectrum disorder and associated difficulties. Many students have been out of education for extended periods before joining the school.

Job Overview:

The Night Support Worker will provide high-quality care and support during nighttime hours to students with special educational needs, including autism, challenging behaviour, and learning difficulties. This role is essential for ensuring the safety, well-being, and emotional support of pupils during the night and engagement in nighttime activities.

Responsibilities:

1. Provide supervision and support for students during the night, ensuring a safe environment.
2. Assist with personal care routines as needed, promoting dignity and independence.
3. Monitor students' behaviour and respond appropriately to incidents, using de-escalation techniques when necessary.
4. Engage students in meaningful activities to promote social interaction and emotional well-being.
5. Document and report on students' progress and any incidents or concerns during the night shift.
6. Collaborate with daytime staff to ensure a seamless transition between night and day care.
7. Maintain a clean and organized living environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
8. Participate in regular training and development to enhance skills related to special educational needs.
9. Build and promote positive relationships and communication with children, young people, and staff.
10. Be innovative, creative, flexible, open-minded, and willing to learn.
11. Demonstrate empathy, sensitivity, self-awareness, and acceptance of others.
12. Maintain confidentiality.

Candidate Requirements:

1. GCSEs or equivalent (preferred).
2. NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (preferred).
3. Within a commutable distance of Horsham.
4. UK driving license.
