Autism Plus is a leading Yorkshire charity supporting adults and young people with autism, learning disabilities, mental health conditions, and complex needs.

Founded in 1986 by parents seeking the best support for their children, Autism Plus aims to empower individuals to live independent, fulfilling lives. We employ over 350 staff across northern England in care support services, employment support, and social enterprises.

About the Role:
Shifts: 3 per week, 10pm to 8am
We are seeking Support Workers who are empathetic and compassionate to provide person-centred support to individuals with autism, learning disabilities, and mental health conditions at our Thorne Residential. This rewarding role involves supporting individuals to live independently, pursue their goals, and engage with their community.

Experience is not required as we provide full training and a paid, full-time 3-week induction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist individuals at home according to Care Plans, assessing their skills and needs.
  • Provide practical support, such as help with household tasks.
  • Offer emotional support through conversation and listening.
  • Adapt communication to meet individual needs.
  • Respect privacy and dignity at all times.
  • Support strategies to manage challenging behaviour.
  • Monitor healthcare needs, including medication administration where applicable.

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Empathetic, observant, and resilient.
  • Compassionate, understanding frustration and confusion individuals may experience.
  • Proud of their work and enjoy helping others.
  • Willing to assist with domestic tasks, personal care, appointments, and social activities.
  • Capable of clear, sensitive communication and remaining calm in difficult situations.
