Night Shift Welder / Maintenance Technician

Job location:Musselburgh, EH21

Pay rate:£15.00

Schedule:Monday-Friday, 22:00-06:00

Smart Solutions are currently recruiting for aNight Shift Welder / Maintenance Technicianto join our successful client based in the Musselburgh, EH21 area. Our client has one of the highest recycling rates in Scotland and are constantly pioneering new technology and recycling processes.

Welding experience in similar environment is essential.

Pay rate:£15.00 per hour, Overtime available at 1.5 x basic. weekly pay in arrears, every Friday

Shift pattern:Monday to Friday 10pm till 6am

Night Shift Welder / Maintenance Technician - Duties & Responsibilities

The right candidate will be responsible for welding, general plant maintenance, and ensuring the safety and operational readiness of plant and equipment. The role includes following standard operating procedures, maintaining a clean and safe working environment, and contributing to high standards of performance and safety across the site.

• Perform inspections and test mechanical units
• Ability to use power and hand tools
• To perform welding and general maintenance duties on plant and mobile equipment during night shifts
• Carry out welding and fabrication tasks as required on plant and mobile equipment
• Perform scheduled and reactive maintenance tasks on plant machinery, especially Lindner shredders
• Ensure all machinery is maintained to a high standard, both internally and externally
• Monitor and promote plant cleanliness, readiness, and operational efficiency for the following day
• Adhere to safety, environmental, and quality standards at all times
• Continually develop skills and knowledge relevant to the role and the site operations
• Perform daily checks and maintenance tasks (greasing, inspections, cleaning).
• Remain aware of environmental conditions (e.g. weather, noise, dust) and adjust practices accordingly

Night Shift Welder / Maintenance Technician - Person Specification

• Qualified / certified welder
• Strong diagnostics capabilities and have pride in their work
• Ability to understand and carry out instructions via written, verbal, or diagram form
• Ability to adapt quickly to a fast paced, dynamic work environment
• Previous experience within a waste & recycling industrial environment is essential
