Job summary

GKN Aerospace is seeking a Team Leader for our Western Approach site (BS35 4GG). You will have full accountability for operational performance, leading a 10–12 person team and delivering PSQDCC targets while working a night shift (Mon-Thu 20:00-06:00) with 32% shift allowance.

You will role-model the GKNA culture, drive Lean practices, and coach others to close performance gaps, ensuring a safe, efficient manufacturing environment at a world-class centre of excellence.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams in a manufacturing/assembly environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English.
• Ability to coach and develop direct reports to improve performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of 10–12 operators to meet PSQDCC targets.
• Deploy Lean Operating Model within the zone and drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with other Team Leaders to optimize area performance.

An exciting and career defining opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader to join the team based at our Western Approach site (BS35 4GG), The modern manufacturing facility is an International Centre of Excellence in composite wing structure design and production, manufacturing composite wing spars and Fixed Trailing Edge assemblies for some of the world's most popular aircrafts.

As a Team Leader, you will have full accountability for all aspects of operational performance, whilst ensuring that we deliver our People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash and Cost (PSQDCC) targets. Reporting into a Group Leader you will be an integral part of our Operations team, helping us deploy our Lean Operating Model and will be responsible for a team of around 10-12 operators.

The successful candidates will work a core night shift shift pattern, which includes 32% shift allowance:

Monday - Thursday 20:00pm - 06:00am

How You'll Contribute

In this role, you will:

• Driving the disciplined and rigorous deployment of the Lean Operating Model (LOM) across your assigned area
• Being actively involved in problem solving and the management system using a 'Go to Gemba' approach to solve problems with the ambition that 95% of issues can be solved within the zone itself
• Contributing to the Value Stream future state design, and ensuring its execution across your assigned area
• Cooperating with other Team Leaders to ensure the best performance outcomes for the entire area
• Holding the functional support staff accountable for adhering to the Global standards and enabling your zone team to meet its targets

• Self-motivated by meeting and exceeding PSQDCC performance targets
• Previous experience within a Managerial/Team Leader role
• Inside knowledge of the aerospace industry
