Job summary

Hywel Dda University Health Board is hiring a Safety and Portering Band 2 officer for a 6-month fixed term, 35 hours per week with a night-focused rota at Withybush General Hospital, Haverfordwest. The role combines firewarden duties with portering tasks to maintain hospital services.

Applicants should have portering or care experience, strong public interaction skills, and relevant safety certificates. Welsh language ability is desirable; driving licence is essential for Health Board vehicles.

Qualifications

• Experience of dealing with the general public.
• Similar portering experience or some care experience.
• Experience of handling difficult or violent persons.
• Able to demonstrate literacy, numeracy and comprehension skills.
• Basic Health and Safety, COSHH, Moving and Handling knowledge, or willingness to learn.
• Food Safety level 2 certificate.
• Welsh speaker level 1 desirable.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular fire checks and address or escalate issues.
• Perform site security checks and ensure the building is secured overnight.
• Drive Health Board vehicles if required (Category C1 advantageous).
• Work flexibly within a 24-hour rota with predominantly night shifts.
