Job summary

Bowmay Consulting is seeking a Shift Leader to manage a newly created night shift in Rochdale. This role involves leading a team of 6/7 in a fast-paced production environment, focusing on driving performance and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have around 5 years of experience in a leadership role within manufacturing or engineering. They will also possess strong leadership skills, experience with LEAN principles, and a proactive approach. Benefits include a competitive salary of £40k, annual bonus, and 34 days holiday.

Qualifications

• Around 5 years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory role in a production/assembly environment.
• Experience working with LEAN principles (ideally with formal training).
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
• The ability to lead, engage and inspire a team.
• High attention to detail with a focus on quality.
• Flexibility and commitment to a permanent night shift.

Responsibilities

• Leading a team of 6/7 in a fast-paced, hands-on production environment.
• Owning performance across quality, cost, and output.
• Monitoring productivity, identifying issues early, and taking decisive action.
• Coaching, developing and motivating your team to hit and exceed targets.
• Working closely with the Production Manager to ensure smooth operations.
• Driving continuous improvement initiatives and contributing to CI projects.
• Acting as a go-to problem solver on shift.
