Job summary

April Quest is seeking a Maintenance Engineer for a night shift role in a fast-paced, high-tech manufacturing facility. You will maintain a 24-hour production line including pick & placement machines, SMT printers, ovens, conveyors, AOI, robotics and laser marking systems.

You will perform RCA-based fault diagnosis, reactive and planned maintenance, and lead small continuous improvement projects to boost uptime and machine performance.

Qualifications

• Time served or HNC (or equivalent) qualification in an electrical, mechanical or electro‑mechanical engineering discipline.
• 2/3+ years of experience in a similar role – essential in a maintenance environment.
• Knowledge of electrical & electronic systems & sensors (PLCs, vision systems, fibre optics, robotics).
• Strong fault-finding, RCA and decision‑making skills.
• Experience with RCA‑driven improvements to machines & processes (SMED, 5 Whys, Ishikawa).
• Proactive mindset with a drive for cost savings and improvements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair a 24-hour production line with multiple high-tech machines.
• Perform reactive and planned maintenance activities and plan CI projects.
• Supervise one Technician and mentor apprentices as needed.
• Lead RCA-based improvements to downtime and machine performance.
