Job summary

Aqumen Recruitment is recruiting for a Machine Relief Inspector on a fixed night shift in Mirfield. The role involves inspecting manufactured products, ensuring quality standards and supporting production machinery to run smoothly.

You'll perform regular quality checks, complete paperwork, and work safely within a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Night shift is Monday to Friday, 22:00–06:00, with a pay of £14.00 per hour and opportunities for additional hours.

Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing or production environment.
• Experience carrying out quality checks or inspections.
• Good mechanical awareness.
• Experience with computerised production equipment or machinery.
• Good problem solving skills.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Good written and spoken English.
• Basic maths skills.
• Ability to accurately complete production and quality paperwork.
• Good communication skills.
• Strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
• Good timekeeping, attendance and reliability.
• Ability to work safely and follow procedures.
• Good level of physical fitness for a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with carding machines, lappers or similar machinery would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular quality inspections throughout production.
• Check products against customer specifications and production orders.
• Complete and sign off quality inspection paperwork.
• Open and close production orders correctly.
• Cover the inspector during breaks and as required.
• Operate and check production equipment safely.
• Check settings on guillotines, pad stackers, band knives and bagging machinery.
• Follow safe procedures when operating the band knife and changing blades.
• Ensure finished products are correctly labelled and barcoded.
• Record quality test results accurately.
• Record production stoppages and downtime using the shop-floor computer system.
• Identify and report mechanical or quality issues.
• Work with Shift Managers, Machine Foremen and Maintenance teams to resolve production problems.
• Remove production waste and ensure waste equipment remains operational.
• Replace packaging materials such as tubes and bags when required.
• Support continuous improvement and general production duties.
• Keep your work area clean, safe and organised.
