Job summary

apetito is the UK's leading food supplier to health and social care sectors, serving over 1,300 care homes and settings. The Low Risk Kitchen seeks team players to prepare and cook meals, maintain quality, and support various prep tasks.

Training will be provided; shift pattern is Sunday-Thursday nights with 40 hours per week. Ideal candidates may hold NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery or be willing to complete it; Level 2 Food Hygiene is preferred.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery or willingness to complete.
• Level 2 Food Hygiene is expected.

Responsibilities

• Weigh products to be used in recipes.
• Control left over stock and apply FIFO methodology.
• Cook products following the recipes supplied.
• Clean pots between products and liaise with High Care Op when pump strip is required when changing from meat to vegetarian products, different species.
• Complete paperwork 100% fully, accurately and legibly – this is a legal requirement.
• Finished cooking must be right first time; carry out tasks to the required standard and check if unsure.
• Inform the person running the area if there is a potential issue with product quality.
• Ensure accurate yields to maintain quality and prevent devaluations for over yields.
• Taste test every cooking with another staff member before release to High Care Kitchen for assembly use.
• Take consistency readings against agreed specification to ensure batch consistency.
• Undertake any training made available.
