Job summary

Great Bear, part of the Culina Group, invites applications for experienced HGV Class 1 drivers to support nationwide palletised deliveries from Desborough. This permanent, full-time role operates a 24/7 schedule with night shifts (Mon-Fri Nights or 4 on/4 off) and includes overtime.

Expect safe driving, punctual deliveries, and professional customer service. Night rates start at £20 per hour, rising to £21 per hour on 4-on-4-off shifts, with overtime paid at enhanced rates.

Qualifications

• Valid C+E Licence and Driver CPC is required.
• Minimum 12 months HGV Class 1 driving experience; new passes not accepted.
• No more than 6 points and no DD or DR convictions.
• Current Tachograph and Driver CPC cards.
• Good understanding of Driver’s Hours and Working Time Directive.
• Ability to perform vehicle checks and report defects correctly.
• Commitment to on-site health and safety requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and a professional approach.

Responsibilities

• Carry out safe, professional deliveries to customer premises.
• Complete palletised general haulage deliveries to Regional Distribution Centres, with most deliveries as backdoor tip.
• Occasional night out may be required.
• Report delays, delivery issues or load discrepancies promptly to the Transport team.
• Complete all paperwork accurately and ensure PODs are signed and returned.
• Follow company health, safety and hygiene standards.
• Adhere to tachograph rules and Road Transport Directive.
• Perform daily vehicle checks and report defects correctly.
• Take responsibility for the unit and trailer, including temperature checks where required.
• Maintain a high standard of behaviour and customer service at all times.
