Job summary

HRGO are seeking a Nights Technical Operator for a food production site in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire. You will be the first responder to line issues, carrying out first-line mechanical fixes, set-ups and PPM support to keep production running safely and on plan.

This night shift is 7pm–7am, four on, four off. The role suits a hands-on, mechanically minded person with experience in FMCG manufacturing and knowledge of HACCP/GMP.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mechanical maintenance experience.
• Ability to fault find and repair on production lines.
• Experience with line changeovers and PPM planning.
• Awareness of HACCP/GMP standards.
• Comfortable with KPI tracking like OEE/downtime.

Responsibilities

• Set up and run production/packaging lines to standard; monitor performance against targets.
• Complete changeovers, running adjustments, and support material/cleaning planning to maximise uptime.
• Carry out first-line mechanical fault finding and repairs; routine checks and basic troubleshooting.
• Support PPM with Engineering and escalate complex issues as needed.
• Complete quality checks and records; ensure HACCP/GMP and health & safety compliance.
• Support CI/lean activity, reduce waste, and train operators.
