Job summary

Morson Edge is recruiting CNC Machinists for night shifts on a contract with GKN Aerospace at Filton, near Bristol. The role includes setting, operating and inspecting aircraft components from composite and metallic materials using advanced CNC machinery.

Applicants should have Level 3 qualifications or an equivalent apprenticeship, 3–5 years’ CNC experience and proficiency with drawing interpretation. Night shift patterns apply with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or NVQ3 or City & Guilds Level 3 equivalent.
• Experience loading/setting fixtures and tooling in CNC machines.
• Siemens 840D control experience preferred.
• 3–5 years’ CNC machining experience.
• Understanding of aircraft drawings, limits, quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Run multi-axis CNC mills (4/5 axis).
• Machine, measure and assemble aircraft components to drawings.
• Use CNC routing, 5-axis drilling and fettling machines.
• Check parts with height gauges, micrometers, verniers.
• Work to high tolerances and flight-ready specs.
• Move components to optimise production flow.
• Utilise Renishaw probing and tool setting equipment.
