Our commitment at Norfolk County Council is to provide quality, holistic residential care for children and young people aged 05-17, aiming for excellent outcomes and lasting results. We are passionate about creating creative and ambitious opportunities for our young people. Our services are well regarded, and we pride ourselves on ensuring the best outcomes for children and young people.

The Den provides holistic care for young people with learning disabilities who have complex health needs and/or challenging behaviors. It has the potential to serve as a home for two young people or operate as a sole occupancy home.

Our team works across the whole week, including weekends and bank holidays, and may involve unsociable hours, night work, and sleep-ins. The post is primarily night shifts but also includes day work for training, development, and supervision.

Our practice approach is underpinned by Children’s Services practice vision ‘Vital Signs for Children’, emphasizing a whole system and family approach, relationship-based work, strengths orientation, and outcome-focused practice.

Following induction and training, duties include:

  • Supporting children and young people with daily activities to develop emotional and social needs through positive relationships.

  • Managing challenging behaviors.
  • Providing personal intimate care and/or nursing support as needed.
  • Collaborating with families and professionals for the best outcomes.
  • Working towards the Level 3 Diploma for Residential Child Care (paid for).
