Job summary

Holiday Inn Stevenage is seeking a Night Porter to help ensure the safety and security of guests and staff during night hours, with routine checks and coordination of late-night operations.

You will support early morning breakfast prep and liaise with guests to resolve issues in a courteous, professional manner across hotel departments.

Flexibility to work night shifts, keen attention to detail and strong communication are essential to delivering high-quality service and guest satisfaction.

  • Support operations across departments as needed to deliver service.

A day in the life of…

As a Night Porter you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of hotel guests, staff, and the hotel at nights. You will also ensure the minimum of 2 security checks at regular intervals with emphasis on security, and fire safety. You will also help prepare breakfast for 6 am, daily and liaise with guests and residents in the hotel, dealing with any problems and resolving complaints in a courteous and professional manner.

As an integral part of night time operations in the hotel, your role extends beyond the front desk! You’ll be agile in your role and support operations in food and beverage, maintenance and all other areas that will require your first class customer service skills and exemplary team work skillset. This role is unlike any other in our hotel and offers development opportunities across all departments.

You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring that guests have a first class enjoyable and comfortable stay.

What do we need from you?
  • Strong attention to detail: As night porter, you must have a keen eye for detail to ensure that all areas of the property are clean and presentable.
  • Good communication skills: You’ll have strong communication skills to interact with guests and staff members effectively. You may also need to report any issues or incidents to the appropriate authorities.
  • Customer service skills: You should possess good customer service skills to assist guests with their needs and ensure that they have a comfortable and pleasant stay. You’ll need to be approachable, friendly, and able to handle any guest complaints or requests.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts: It goes without saying, but you must be able to work late-night and early-morning shifts as the role typically involves working during the night-time hours.
