Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Night Paramedic to join our primary care team at HMP Winchester, a Category B Prison located in central Winchester.

HMP Winchester is a Category B Local remand prison located in central Winchester accommodating approximately 670 male prisoners. The site is close to Winchester city centre with onsite staff parking and is a short walk from Winchester train station.

Hours

4-week rolling rota. Shifts are predominantly nights, with some day shifts for development and interaction: 3 weeks of nights and 1 week of days.

Night shift: 20:30 – 08:00

Day shift: 07:30 – 20:00

This is a full-time position with an annual salary up to £47,250 per annum, depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Night Paramedic, your responsibilities will vary. You will:

  • Provide outstanding evidence-based care for patients, focusing on emergency and unplanned care for primary and acute needs, listening to and acting on patient feedback to personalise care.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care, build therapeutic relationships and promote professional boundaries.
  • Participate actively in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care following policies and safeguarding considerations.

Qualifications and requirements

Requirements

  • Current professional registration (HCPC)
  • Proven post-registration ambulance experience
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • A non-judgemental and compassionate approach
  • Proven experience in either Accident & Emergency, Primary Care environments or Minor injuries/illness

Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment is desirable but not essential.
