A leading healthcare provider in the UK is seeking a Night Nurse Manager to oversee hospital operations during night shifts. The role requires a qualified Mental Health Nurse with active NMC registration and a minimum of 2 years post-registration experience in mental health. Responsibilities include ensuring staff alertness, compliance with care standards, and incident reporting. Working Hours: 37.62 hours (Monday - Sunday rota)
Responsibilities: The Night Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the hospital at night, ensuring appropriate staffing levels with the right skill mix, supporting and advising colleagues, monitoring standards of care, and ensuring adherence to ACG standards and policies. The role involves taking on the Night Nurse Manager duties during night shifts, supporting ward staff with breaks, and providing effective leadership. Management of the service is conducted from the ward of the bleep holder, including handovers, incident reporting, staffing adjustments, and ensuring all wards are adequately staffed with a mix of permanent and agency staff. The Night Nurse Manager will also be responsible for recording incidents, seclusions, sickness, and DNA’s in the Night Report, which is shared with Ward Managers, the Matron, and the Hospital Director. They will visit wards throughout the night to observe and ensure staff alertness, complete 24-hour reports, and handle documentation such as CQC notifications. Handover to Ward Managers/CTLs occurs in the morning. The Night Report includes staffing numbers, incidents, missed interventions, hospital trips, overnight leave, and out-of-hours contractors.
