Job description

We’re one of the largest not for profit care provider in the UK, specialising in providing high quality, person-centred care for older people, in care homes and extra care housing nationwide.

At OSJCT we care about our residents and we care about each other. That means you’ll enjoy great career development working for an expanding organisation. Because we’re a not for profit trust, we invest every penny we make in the people who live in our homes and the people who work here too. This means better quality care and lovely homes for our residents, along with competitive wages and great training and development for our people.

We provide outstanding care, working closely with leading experts on dementia and elderly care. And we’re currently modernising our portfolio of care homes – refurbishing our existing homes and moving into new, inspiring, contemporary care homes too.

As we expand nationwide, we need more people with the right mix of skills, passion and ambition to help us grow even more.

Hayward Care Centre offers compassionate, individualised residential, dementia and nursing care to 80 residents in one of the most suitably designed environments in the UK.

Registered Night Nurse

Contracted hours: 24.5 hours a week - 19.15 to 07.30 including alternative weekends

ABOUT THE ROLE

Are you a qualified registered nurse with a current NMC pin?

Do you prefer to work nights?

Our care teams make a real difference every day and your professionalism, kindness and compassion, will be at the core of everything you do. Our Night Nurses are usually the most senior person on site during night shifts and will take charge in the event of any emergencies that arise as well as keeping wakeful watch on the security and safety of our residents and the home in general.

Leading a team of carers, you will have a lead clinical responsibility, providing advice and guidance where necessary, and ensuring that high standards of nursing and personal care are met. You will deliver, monitor, and re-evaluate care needs in partnership with each resident, their key carers, family members and the wider team at the home, as well as liaising effectively with GPs, hospitals and external agencies. The role is incredibly rewarding, and you will regularly be presented with a wide range of clinical experiences and opportunities to develop your skills and knowledge.

If these shift / hours do not suit you, we can also offer hours on a casual basis that give you flexibility and work life balance. Simply let us know what you are looking for when you apply.

AND IN RETURN

The rewards for our Nurses are great. Our roles offer greater flexibility in working patterns, more autonomy with decision making, the opportunity to build close relationships with the residents in your care in a consultative, case-management role.

The Trust is a great place to work; we’ve been providing care for almost 1,000 years and we’re currently the second largest not-for-profit provider in the UK. Not-for-profit means that we reinvest every penny we make into our residents, colleagues and the care homes we live and work in. Therefore, we offer a great range of benefits, including a competitive salary, training and development. Alongside keeping our colleagues safe with PPE and daily testing

  • Refer a Friend scheme rewarding you up to £1000 for every recommendation you make who successfully starts working for us
  • Blue Light Card and “My Rewards” programme, offering you discounts on shopping, days out, restaurants and much more
ABOUT YOU

You will be a qualified Registered General Nurse or Registered Mental Health Nurse and currently registered with NMC. You will have post-registration experience, will be able to evidence continuing professional development activities and you’ll be comfortable in taking charge.
