Overview
Dakota Hotel based in Newcastle are offering a vacancy for the role of Night Duty Manager. This role carries responsibility for overseeing the nights team, ensuring the smooth running of the hotel during night hours, implementing night time procedures, and ensuring the safety of our guests.
Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Senior Night Manager and support the leadership of the nights team. In the absence of the Senior Night Manager, you will be the senior on duty and in charge of the night shift. Responsibilities include delivering one-on-one training to new team members and completing their New Start Training Plan, managing workload through the shift, and ongoing performance management.
- Carry out Reception duties (checking guests in and out), support the Bar where required, ensure the proper running of Night Audit, banking, and completion of the Nights Cleaning Checklist.
- Prepare and deliver our Night Room Service menu upon order.
- Knowledge of alcohol licensing and taking charge of the night shift during these hours to ensure compliance with legislation, keep the premises and guests safe, and deescalate any security matters as needed.
- As the allocated Duty Manager, oversee the smooth running of the entire hotel during night time hours and implement night time procedures, ensuring guest safety.
- During the night shift, balance time between managing the Reception Desk, conducting property walks, and supervising tasks carried out by the Nights Porters.
- Be proactive in maintaining security and operational standards across the night period. A minimum of one year’s experience as Duty Manager/Fire Warden in charge of running the night shift for a hotel nights environment and one year of supervisory experience or above is required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a hotel environment.
- Be computer literate, with experience using a property management system such as Opera or Shiji; willingness to learn as full training will be provided.
- Great communicator and a genuine people person.
- Enthusiastic, with a positive attitude and a culture of positivity.
- Task oriented with attention to detail.
- Flexible with shift patterns and available around the needs of the business.
Salary & Hours
The gross annual salary is £28,000 plus an annual incentive of £4,875 in anticipated Tronc earnings. The role is a permanent contract with typical hours of 37.5 per week. Shift pattern: 4 nights on, 3 nights off per week, with weekend work and variable nights.
