Job description

Location: Bay Court Care Home, Largs, Ayrshire, KA30 8EQ

We are seeking an experienced Night Charge Nurse to join our brand-new, purpose-built luxury care home in the picturesque seaside town of Largs. This state-of-the-art facility, opening soon, will provide exceptional residential, nursing, dementia, and respite care for up to 80 residents.

As part of our leadership team, you will help create a culture of high standards, compassion, and clinical excellence. You’ll be supported by our Home Manager, who holds the prestigious Queen’s Nurse distinction, and work alongside a team of strong, clinically skilled leaders. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the home and make a real difference in the lives of our residents.

What We Offer

  • £23.25 per hour
  • 39.37 per week (working 3 nights one week, 4 nights the following week)
  • Shift Times: 7:45 PM – 8:00 AM
  • Paid NMC fees, pension, paid PVG, free onsite parking, uniform provided, and 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full-time contract)

What You Will Do

  • Lead with Confidence: Take clinical responsibility for up to 30 residents during night shifts, ensuring their medical, physical, and emotional needs are met with professionalism and compassion.
  • Foster a Positive Culture: Help set the tone for excellence and teamwork within the home by supporting a values-driven, person-centred care approach.
  • Support Your Team: Mentor and motivate your colleagues, offering clinical guidance and nurturing a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Maintain Compliance and Quality: Carry out audits, support regulatory compliance, and uphold the highest clinical and care standards.
  • Deliver Person-Centred Care: Act as a named nurse, creating and reviewing care plans using electronic care systems (EMAR), and ensuring tailored, responsive care for each resident.

What We’re Looking For

  • Registered Nurse (Valid NMC PIN)
  • Minimum of 2 Years’ Nursing Experience
  • Strong Leadership Skills – with the confidence to lead teams and coordinate care effectively at night
  • Experience Using Electronic Care Plans and EMAR
  • A Commitment to High-Quality, Person-Centred Care
  • A Passion for Mentoring and Developing Others
