Job summary

Together Trust in Cheadle Hulme is seeking a dedicated night care worker to support young people in a residential home. You will plan and assess needs, keep detailed records, and administer medication where appropriate, with careful attention to safeguarding and legislation.

This role requires strong communication, IT literacy (Clearcare), and an ability to work independently on night shifts, including weekends, within a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • Experience working in a children's residential setting is preferred.
  • Willingness to undertake training and DBS checks.
  • Ability to work night shifts, including weekends, safely and responsibly.

Responsibilities

  • Attend to needs of children and young adults during the night.

Job description

The core tasks will include attending to the needs of children and young adults during the night, some of which have complex health conditions, domestic duties and appropriate record keeping in accordance with legislation and regulations. You will also;

  • Assist in the planning, operations and assessment of the young person's need.
  • Maintain appropriate records on the child, young person and adult and ensure that information is passed onto other members of the team
  • Administer medication and simple medical procedures for the young people as appropriate and a willingness to undertake training if required
  • Take responsibility for the security and maintenance of the house/unit during the night, including housekeeping duties as required and utilising the sleep - in member of staff or on-call manager as required.

    Do you have the skills we are looking for.

  • Good Communication and interpersonal skills. You'll be expected to liaise with other staff, parents/carers, and professionals.
  • Some previous experience of working in a children's residential setting along with flexibility to respond to the needs of the home.
  • Am ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, taking the lead when required, maintaining & encouraging open and honest communication.
  • You must have a good understanding of English and IT skills and be happy to complete all the paperwork and care plans to a good quality. Which includes daily recording on IT systems (Clearcare) and other records such as incident reports.
  • An enthusiastic, reliable and outgoing person with a level of maturity, skills and interests which can be utilised to engage the young people.

This service is regulated by Ofsted therefore all employees must be over the age of 22 years at the time of joining the service. Safeguarding checks will be undertaken for the successful candidate in line with our safer recruitment policy, including an Enhanced DBS check (at no cost to yourself). This role will be carried out whilst working 10-hour night shifts allocated by the Manager or delegated person which includes weekends. Working Hours - 30 Hours (shift timing of Start time 21:30 & End time 07:30) Location - Central Cheadle Hulme Contract - Permanent Salary - £20,984.00 per year with an hourly rate of £13.45 per hour Salary pro-rated from a full time equivalent of £26,230 based on working 37.5 hours. Salary enhancement of time and a quarter for weekend shifts and during the week between 11pm and 6am. We also offer
