Job summary

KPI Recruiting Ltd is seeking a Night Assistant Manager to support the successful running of our client's food production operation during the night shift. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced warehouse professional with strong people management skills.

You will lead a team of FLT Drivers and operatives, ensure safety, stock accuracy, and KPI delivery while coordinating with the Warehouse Manager. A valid Reach Truck Licence is essential for this role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Support the Warehouse Manager in day-to-day night shift operations.
• Lead and supervise a team of FLT drivers and operatives.

• Operate Reach Truck safely when required.

• Support KPI delivery through effective team management.
• Conduct shift briefings and communicate updates.
• Train and coach team members to improve performance.

KPI recruiting is currently recruiting for a Night Assistant Manager to support the successful running of our client's food production operation during the night shift.

This is a hands‑on leadership role, ideal for an experienced warehouse professional with strong people management skills and a proven background in warehouse/food production operations. You will be responsible for leading a team of multiple FLT Drivers and operatives, ensuring all warehouse activities are completed safely, efficiently and in line with operational targets.

Working closely with the Warehouse Manager, you will help oversee stock accuracy, goods movement, team performance and customer service standards while maintaining a safe and productive warehouse environment.

A valid Reach Truck Licence is essential for this role - internal licences are accepted as well.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Warehouse Manager in the day-to-day management of the night shift operation.
• Lead, motivate and supervise a team of FLT Drivers and warehouse operatives.
• Allocate workloads and manage shift priorities to ensure operational targets are achieved.
• Oversee the receipt, storage, movement and dispatch of goods.
• Operate Reach Truck equipment safely and efficiently when required.
• Monitor stock accuracy and investigate any discrepancies, damages or shortages.
• Coordinate stock transfers and warehouse movements.
• Ensure customer orders are picked, loaded and dispatched accurately and on time.
• Support warehouse KPI delivery through effective team management.
• Conduct shift briefings and communicate operational updates.
• Train, coach and support team members to improve performance and compliance.
• Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed at all times.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the warehouse.
• Liaise with other departments and management teams to resolve operational issues and improve efficiency.
• Provide management cover in the absence of the Warehouse Manager where required.

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics or distribution environment.
• Experience in a supervisory, team leader or assistant manager role.
• Experience managing and leading multiple FLT Drivers and warehouse operatives.
• Valid Reach Truck Licence with practical operating experience.
• Strong understanding of warehouse operations, stock control and inventory management.
• Experience using warehouse management systems (WMS) or ERP systems.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively.
• Good understanding of warehouse health and safety requirements.
• A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to lead by example.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment and meet deadlines.

Desirable

• Experience within an FMCG, food manufacturing or distribution environment.
• Knowledge of warehouse performance KPIs and continuous improvement practices.
