A healthcare provider in Edinburgh seeks three Occupational Therapy Assistants to support their team at the Western General Hospital. Candidates should demonstrate an understanding of Occupational Therapy in an acute setting, possess good communication skills, and be able to work within a team. This is a part-time, permanent position requiring weekend work and offers the chance to contribute to patient rehabilitation.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. If there is any change to what is currently required, this will be confirmed by either the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team.
Occupational Therapy Assistants
Permanent, 3 positions @ 24.66hrs each
We have an exciting opportunity for 3 x Occupational Therapy Assistants to join our friendly Occupational Therapy team at the Western General Hospital. You will support the Occupational Therapists (OT's) working across a variety of in-patient hospital wards. You will work with minimal supervision to implement agreed OT plans as prescribed by the qualified OT. This will include gathering background information, carrying out a variety of practice sessions and rehabilitation tasks with patients and also making onward referrals including adaptive equipment and technology.
Having an awareness of the role of Occupational Therapy in the acute hospital setting and clearly demonstrating this in your application is essential. You will be compassionate, have good communication and time management skills and work well within a team.
There will be a commitment to weekend working in the Occupational Therapy team at WGH as part of the 5 over 7 day working pattern.
