Join our dedicated pharmacy team at the St John’s Hospital and play a vital role in supporting the safe provision of medicines within a hospital services environment.

About The Role

St John’s Hospital is a modern teaching hospital that provides a comprehensive and expanding range of services, including a 24-hour Accident and Emergency department and a range of specialist services including burns treatment, plastic surgery and paediatrics. The hospital also hosts Lothian’s specialist head and neck unit and the Hooper Hand Unit, and has a reputation for excellence in maternity services, with around 3,000 babies born at the hospital every year.

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated Pharmacy Support Worker (PSW) to join our well-established pharmacy team. Our team consists of pharmacy technicians, trainee pharmacy technicians, and PSWs, all working together to ensure the safe provision of medicines across the site.

This role will have opportunities to work within a variety of different technical areas. Your role will include assisting in the preparation and distribution of medicines and stock management. Full training and ongoing support will be provided to help you develop the necessary skills.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Pharmacy Support Worker with a passion for delivering exceptional clinical care.

Essential Qualifications And Experience

  • National 4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • A diligent, reliable, and flexible approach to work.
  • An eagerness to learn about clean room environments and aseptic procedures.
  • Prior experience within pharmacy services or stock management (beneficial but not essential).
  • A willingness to complete an SCQF Level 6 unit as part of your development.
