Pharmacy Technician – Higher Level

Band 5, 37 hours/week, Permanent (2 posts), Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh

(with public holidays and weekend commitments)

This is an exciting opportunity for highly motivated and enthusiastic pharmacy technicians to join the well established clinical pharmacy team. The Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh is a large teaching hospital with an established reputation for offering the best practice across a wide variety of specialist services. As part of a supportive team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, you will play an integral role in the multidisciplinary team, ensuring the safe and effective supply of medicines to patients. The post holders will have a patient facing role and have extended responsibilities throughout the patient journey, including medication history taking, utilisation of technician referral tools and patient education.

Candidates must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), have a Pharmacy Dispensary Checking Technician (PDCT) National Qualification or equivalent, HNC in Pharmacy Services Development and Management or equivalent qualification or relevant experience will be considered. If the successful candidates do not hold the HNC or equivalent they will be expected to engage in completing the appropriate post-registration qualification in post. Knowledge and experience of ward based activities such as one-stop dispensing and assessment of patient’s own medicines would be beneficial.

You will be required to participate in the weekend, late night and public holiday service rota.
