Job summary

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant - Technical Accounts to ensure accurate delivery of statutory and NHS accounts, along with monthly returns. The role involves maintaining the general ledger, reviewing VAT and intercompany transactions, and advising on complex accounting treatments.

You will lead technical accounting activities, support audit processes and develop robust financial controls in line with NHS policies.

Qualifications

• NHS finance experience and knowledge of NHS policies and reporting requirements.
• Experience advising non-finance managers on financial matters and policies.
• Proven ability to lead financial accounting activities and teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational support to deliver statutory/NHS accounts and monthly returns.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and TB with minimal manual intervention.
• Produce detailed working papers for month-end/annual accounts.
• Monitor VAT returns and supplier transactions for anomalies.
• Lead leasing and asset accounting; maintain lease register and updates.
