Overview
Band 5 Dietitian training opportunity within an acute hospital setting. The role involves providing clinical expertise and contributing to high standards of therapeutic care for patients, with potential cross-site working across hospital sites.
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical expertise to support delivery of high standards of therapeutic care for patients within their care.
- Manage an autonomous clinical caseload within a defined area, delivering thorough assessment, treatment and advice to meet patient needs.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues in health, social care, local authorities and other agencies to meet patient needs.
- Ensure efficient and effective use of team resources and contribute to service development and Clinical Governance.
- Represent the Nutrition and Dietetic department and contribute to the development of the wider Therapy service.
- Act as a source of clinical knowledge for non-qualified staff and promote clinical excellence within the scope of competence.
- Work with other MDT members to plan treatment and care; collaborate with other health professionals to drive clinical care and service improvement.
- Provide information and education to patients and relatives; support informed decisions regarding treatment options and patient pathways.
- Participate in service reviews, research, clinical audits and evidence-based practice to improve care and quality of life.
- Engage in personal professional development, including using clinical supervision and peer support; participate in a portfolio of up-to-date evidence within the specialist field.
- Take responsibility for personal annual appraisal and manage own caseload within an agreed area.
- Provide prompt clinical advice to health professionals and maintain excellent communication with primary care and other providers.
Qualifications and Requirements
- HCPC Registration Required (Health & Care Professions Council) – Essential.
- Ability to work as part of a team and cope with a varying workload.
- IELTS (7.5 with 7.0 in each module) or OET Grade B Overall for Overseas AHP Professionals.
- DBS/Disclosure: The Trust operates a DBS policy for staff with access to children/vulnerable adults; overseas candidates may require international police checks or character references.

Additional Information
- Supported professional development with appraisal and a twelve-month Preceptorship programme for all Band 5 staff; time allocated for studying and shadowing in areas such as critical care, stroke, gastroenterology and paediatrics.
- Cross-site working may be required; transport is available. A fully integrated team includes dietitians, nutrition nurses and assistants.
- This role includes managing 1–2 general outpatient clinics per week.
- Some experience in acute settings preferred; opportunity to start or develop your dietetic career within a team of specialist dietitians.
