Job summary

York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) is recruiting a Cleaning & Catering Operative to support the Harrogate Renal Unit on a part-time basis. The role focuses on maintaining high standards of cleanliness across a designated area, following the provided work schedule, and using cleaning equipment safely.

No prior experience required as full training will be given; a willingness to learn and work flexibly is essential.

Qualifications

• Willing to undertake appropriate training as required.
• No prior experience necessary; training will be provided.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills are expected for daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness across designated areas according to the work schedule.
• Operate cleaning machinery and equipment safely as trained.
• Undertake specialist cleaning tasks under supervision and infection prevention guidance.
• Use cleaning materials economically and store them securely.
• Apply colour-coded equipment to prevent cross-contamination.

Skills

Communication with patients and staff

Ability to work on own initiative

Reading and writing in English

Education

BICSc/NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning or equivalent

Basic education with reading, writing and numeracy

Tools
