Job Overview

The Teacher Support Programme (TSP) is British Council Egypt’s well-established training and mentoring programme for newly qualified teachers. It includes regular input, peer observations, and lesson planning support from an experienced mentor. Teachers have reduced teaching hours during the TSP, which aims to build skills, confidence, and independence. Many TSP graduates pursue teaching Diplomas and hold management positions across the British Council network.

Role Purpose

  • To promote and ensure quality teaching and effective learning of English.
  • To provide learners with a rewarding and stimulating English language learning experience.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver up to 20 hours of high-quality English teaching in the first year.
  • Post-graduation, teaching hours will increase to 25 hours per week, tailored to different learner needs and styles.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to manage student performance, promoting learner autonomy.
  • Engage in professional development and performance management to maintain high teaching standards.

During the initial year, Teachers on the TSP undertake:

  • Attendance at scheduled training sessions and INSETTS (up to 2 per week).
  • Two observations per term by the training/management team or mentor.
  • Three peer observations per term.

Meetings include:

  • Pre- and post-observation meetings with training/management staff or mentors.
  • Participation in Training Days and Teachers’ Meetings unless scheduled to teach other courses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (any discipline).
  • Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Certificate TESOL.

Work Experience

  • 0 Years post-certificate experience (Required for Newly Qualified applicants).

Language Requirements

High proficiency in English: full mastery across all skills, CEFR C2, IELTS band 8/9 in each section.

Right to Work in the Country

  • Relocation support available for non-Egyptian candidates.
  • Egyptian residents with the right to live and work in Egypt are welcome to apply.
  • Applicants require a passport valid for at least six months.

Salary & Benefits

International mobility contract (residing outside Egypt):

  • Salary: 13,388 EGP (Gross) + GBP 315 net monthly Sterling supplement.
  • Housing allowance: Unaccompanied - 4000 EGP; with 1 dependent - 5500 EGP; with 2 or more dependents - 7500 EGP.

Local contract (residing in Egypt):

  • Salary: 13,388 EGP (Gross).
  • Contributions as per laws, deducted from salary.
  • Annual paid leave: 35 days plus 16 public holidays.
  • Medical insurance covering the employee and family, managed by Allianz.
