Job description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Head Grower/Field Technician. The Head Grower/Field Technician will be responsible for overseeing the cultivation and maintenance of food crop plants, planting and harvesting crops, and irrigating plants as needed. The role comprises managing and restoring a no-till walled garden and growing food crops in the alleys of a large agroforestry system. This is an opportunity to create and manage at scale a holistic approach to food production. This is an on-site role located in Denton (LS29 0HF) to start Early 2024.

Qualifications
  1. Experience managing and leading a team.
  2. Experience in organic crop cultivation, knowledge of irrigation systems, and operation of farm machinery.
  3. Knowledge and experience in monitoring soil moisture, nutrient levels, crop health, and organically managing pests and diseases.
  4. Understanding of the principles of integrated pest management.
  5. Basic knowledge of greenhouse operations.
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team; self-driven and goal-oriented.
  7. Some knowledge of accounting and budgeting is desirable.
  8. Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Soil Science, or Agricultural Science is desirable but not essential; proven field experience is equally valuable.
