The Role - NPD Technologist:

The NPD Technologist will be responsible for overseeing and managing all technical aspects of the food production process, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, improving product quality, and leading technical innovation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food science, food technology, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

  • Drive technical projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to ensure the company remains competitive.

Food Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety regulations and standards, including HACCP, and other applicable laws.
  • Implement and maintain food safety programs, including regular audits and inspections.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies and certification organisations as needed.

Product Development and Quality Assurance:

  • Collaborate with NPD to develop new products and improve existing ones.
  • Oversee quality control processes to ensure products meet the highest quality standards.
  • Conduct sensory evaluations and shelf-life studies to validate product performance.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities with manufacturers for process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
  • Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational excellence.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments, including Operations, Marketing, and Sales, to align technical activities with business goals.
  • Provide technical support and expertise to address customer inquiries and resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.

Do you have some of the below?:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in a technical development role within the food industry.
  • Food labelling and HACCP.
  • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, quality assurance practices, and product development processes.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a technical team.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing technical challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
