New Graduate Veterinary Surgeon. Whitby. £37k-£39k per annum
We are working with an independent family-owned 4 vet practice in the beautiful coastal town of Whitby in North Yorkshire. Their small animal client base continues to grow and now accounts for 90% of their workload, with the remaining 10% being equine.
The role is for a small animal vet, but if you also have an interest in equine, you are more than welcome to get involved. They work closely with the British Divers Marine Life Rescue and with a local wildlife sanctuary.
This practice has been family-run, caring for animals in the local area for over 7 decades, since it was established in 1946.
Vets work a 4-day week here, with a set day off, and they finish early on Friday. They have a 1:4 weekend rota, and one night a week on call, with a nurse. Less experienced vets will have backup in place.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a new graduate looking for a supportive and experienced team. You are strongly recommended to follow your passions here, and this is a place with a learning and development culture.
You will have dedicated time throughout the day to catch up on phone calls and admin, with a daily scheduled lunch break. Their recent Practice Standards Inspector commented that their "diary set up was very good and allowed for breaks for vets and catch up time."
They are a friendly team, getting together over a meal, or at their summer beach hut. If you want to learn paddleboard or kayak, join their local wild swimming group, or seaside sauna, or just sit and enjoy the sunset with your favourite tipple, this is the place to be.
Laurentiu, one of our locum vets, says:
"I absolutely love working at The Beck Veterinary Practice, The friendly family-owned atmosphere makes it a joy to come to work. The team is incredibly supportive, and we all share a genuine passion for providing the best care possible for our patients. It's such a positive welcoming environment, and I'm proud to be part of a practice that treats animals and staff as family."
Whitby is a pretty coastal town, popular with tourists, famous for the 199 steps leading up to the Abbey, which was the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Dracula.
There are plenty of outdoor activities to get involved with; you can head off on foot or bike to enjoy the North York Moors National Park, with the Cleveland Way, Lyke Wake Walk, and the Coast to Coast on our doorstep.
