Job description
Overview

£30,184 - £33,901 per annum

New Forest, Hampshire

Up to 37 hours per week

About the role

We are looking for an experienced individual to join our team of rangers, which provides the New Forest National Park Authority with a first point of contact throughout the National Park and its surrounding communities.

If you have the right qualification or experience, we want to hear from you!

Being practised at working with members of the public, you will provide face-to-face interactions, helping them to enjoy and understand what makes the National Park special and encourage a sense of care and responsibility whilst avoiding negative impacts.

You will use our mobile information unit to engage with Forest users and promote the New Forest Code, give talks and guided walks, run seasonal activities, and attend local community events. There will be resources to prepare, local businesses which need our literature, visitor surveys to do and potential for some more practical projects.

We are looking for a skilled individual who can liaise effectively with different stakeholders, including members of the public, partner organisations, and local communities.

Requirements

You will probably have a real interest in the natural and cultural heritage of the National Park, and your knack for clearly explaining countryside issues will help you confidently communicate your knowledge and passion to a wide range of people. This externally funded role requires a valid driving licence, is subject to a DBS check, and involves working some weekends and bank holidays. Based at our office in Lymington, but significant time will be spent within and just outside the boundary of the National Park, especially in the southern and eastern areas.

This role is full-time at 37 hours per week, but part-time hours will be considered. The starting salary is £30,184, with incremental progression up to £33,901 per annum. The quoted salary range is based on full-time hours.
