Position: New Business Development Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a New Business Development Manager to join a forward-thinking, award-winning company specialising in bespoke computing solutions for critical applications across diverse industries. You will be joining a well-established, innovative business that designs and manufactures specialist electronics and electro-mechanical platforms for harsh, high-reliability environments. From ruggedised tablets and computing platforms to complex racks and advanced IoT solutions, their products are engineered to meet exacting client requirements and withstand extreme conditions.

The Role

This is a pivotal new business development role focused on identifying and securing new opportunities, building strong relationships with key prospects, and driving sales growth across strategic markets. You will be responsible for sales prospecting, lead generation, and developing key accounts to ensure a robust pipeline of future business.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Sales Prospecting & Lead Generation
    • Develop and execute sales prospecting and customer targeting plans.
    • Proactively engage with new leads to build a qualified pipeline of prospects.
    • Maintain consistent contact to progress opportunities to the quotation/proposal stage.
  2. Target Customer Development
    • Identify and prioritise key accounts with high growth potential; create and implement Account Development Plans (ADPs).
    • Collaborate with the account management team to drive account growth and expand market share.
    • Provide accurate revenue forecasts for each target account.
    • Build deep sector and customer knowledge, including competitors and market trends.
  3. Opportunity Nurturing, Relationship Building & Networking
    • Balance opportunity nurturing with relationship-building to convert prospects into long-term customers.
    • Attend industry events and trade shows to network and generate new leads.
    • Act as an ambassador for the company, enhancing brand awareness and market presence.
  4. Quotations, Proposals & Target Management
    • Manage and report on your new business pipeline and opportunities.
    • Prepare professional sales quotations and proposals with clear commercial value.
    • Work closely with technical, procurement, and production teams to ensure proposals are commercially sound and deliverable.
Skills & Experience

You should bring a blend of the following:

  • Proven experience in business development, sales, or key account management.
  • Strong skills in lead generation and sales prospecting.
  • Ability to develop and execute strategic account development plans.
  • Experience managing quotations, proposals, and sales pipelines.
  • Excellent networking and relationship-building abilities.
