Job summary

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for LAS Specialty Registrar (ST3+) in Neurosurgery to cover a maternity leave vacancy. The post is fixed-term for 11 months, with full-time hours and an out-of-hours rota.

Based predominantly at Royal Hallamshire Hospital, the role supports the Neurosurgical team; it includes clinics, theatres, ward rounds, and teaching responsibilities. Eligibility includes GMC registration, MRCS, ATLS, ALS and UK NHS neurosurgery experience.

Qualifications

• GMC registration valid to practice in the UK.
• Medical degree from recognised institution.
• MRCS accreditation.
• ATLS and ALS certifications.
• Evidence of Distinctions, awards, scholarships or other degrees.
• Evidence of foundation competences from UKFPO or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day clinical care for neurosurgical patients.
• Attend ward rounds and participate in outpatient clinics.
• Assist at or perform operations within competence.
• Provide out-of-hours services in rotation with junior staff.
• Teach and supervise junior doctors and medical students.
• Contribute to MDT meetings, audits and departmental teaching.
• Record detailed case notes and prepare discharge summaries.
