Full time Neurology Vet Nurse – 12 month Maternity Leave position

Are you an experienced veterinary nurse that is looking at making an exciting career change into the world of specialist nursing? Maybe you are already nursing at a specialist hospital, but are seeking a new challenge?

About the role :

Due to one of our nurses heading on Maternity Leave, the Neurology department at Veterinary Referral Hospital is looking for their next superstar nurse to join their fun-loving team! The team currently consists of 2 Neurology Specialists, 2 Registrars, 2 Residents, and 6 nurses.

VRH is privileged to have a multi-disciplinary team, including vets, specialists and experienced nurses in ECC, Anaesthesia, Neurology, Radiology, Internal Medicine and Surgery, ensuring we give our patients the best care possible. We have all the fancy toys that allow us to provide gold standard services such as MRI, CT, ventilators and everything else you could ever desire.

The Neurology department at VRH are a tight knit family. You will be surrounded with support as you take this exciting leap into the world of Neurology Nursing! To be successful in your application you will be able to demonstrate the following :

  • Qualifications as a Veterinary Nurse, minimum Certificate IV or equivalent
  • At least 3 years’ experience in the veterinary industry as a nurse in a busy clinical GP or specialist hospital
  • Strong technical nursing skills, including proficiency in monitoring anaesthesia, IV catheter placement, blood sampling and performing a TPR
  • Ability to be a part of a rotating on-call roster
  • Exceptional organisation and communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team, whilst demonstrating initiative
  • Being able to adapt and handle the unpredictable nature of the job
  • Willingness to participate in learning and development opportunities
