Overview

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist IV has passed examination and obtained at least one credential and is able to perform multiple testing modalities: EEG/ Electroencephalography: R. EEG. T., or EP/Evoke Potentials: R. EP. T., NCS/Nerve Conduction Studies: R. NCS. T. The Neurodiagnostic Technologist is able to perform multiple procedures according to ASET standards, hospital policies, and procedures. The Neurodiagnostic Technologist IV provides findings, results, and descriptive analysis for multiple modalities of practice and maintains patient safety during clinically significant events. Performs other related duties including clinical training and assessment for staff. Strong well-developed communication skills are essential for this position.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability in the performance of multiple modalities (EEG, NCV, EP Studies, OCT) of testing and performs timely, accurate testing procedures.
  2. Prepares the patient for testing by attaching monitoring devices and providing appropriate explanations of test procedures.
  3. Records observations and ensures appropriate data is collected and documented in acquisition and EPIC. Able to appropriately clip EEG acquisitions based on manufacturer standards and provider preferences. Able to assist with EMG and perform Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT).
  4. Maintains and cleans lab equipment and ensures the room is clean according to hospital and manufacturer recommendations.
  5. Performs daily office/clerical procedures, assuring all supplies, charges, and repairs are completed. Completes appropriate requisitions.
  6. Maintains all equipment in clean and operational condition. Reports and documents need for repair to Biomedical Engineering and Manager per department policies and procedures.
  7. Works with Neurodiagnostics technologist development, implementing and evaluating education programming for staff. Facilitates learning in technical areas, including orientation, annual competency evaluations, etc.
  8. Performs other duties as needed and/or assigned.
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  1. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the infant, child, adolescent, young adult, middle adult, geriatric patient/customer served by the Neurodiagnostic department.
  2. Ability to assess and interpret data about the patient/customer status to identify each patient/customer age-specific needs and provides the service needed by the group serviced. Able to work independently and in a team environment.
  3. Demonstrates knowledge of equipment and accurate use.
  4. Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills. Able to work with team for continued development.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. High School/GED Equivalent Required
  2. Associate's Degree Neurodiagnostic Program Required
  3. 4 years performing neurodiagnostic procedures required
  4. BLS Required
  5. EEG/ Electroencephalography: R. EEG. T., or EP/Evoke Potentials: R. EP. T., or NCS/Nerve Conduction Studies: R. NCS. T.
