Job description

We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant Neurologist on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Neurology department.


Our client is one of the largest and busiest Trusts in the UK with a budget of over £1 Billion and employing over 16,000 staff, advancing clinical excellence and driving forward clinical research. This trust's Neurology department is seeking an enthusiastic, creative, and dynamic neurologist with a commitment to service innovation, development, and improvement in Neurosciences who will contribute to the existing Neurology service.


The appointee will join a team of 12 consultant neurologists, three Neurology SpRs, and two CMT2 grade doctors. This department is truly dynamic as each consultant has individual interests and expertise covering a wide range of neurological subspecialties, including epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, headache, MND, movement disorders, acute neurology, and neuro-inflammatory disorders.


The successful appointee will be expected to fulfill duties such as:

  1. Participation in a 1 in 10 on call rota
  2. Providing a clinical service which includes the responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness
  3. Participation in clinical governance and audit processes for the trust
  4. Contributing to the service and directorate
  5. Playing a significant and increasing role in the management of acutely ill neurological patients
  6. Support and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical students
