Job description

About

A fantastic opportunity to support neurodivergent adults (autism, ADHD, Tourette's, etc.) into work or career progression. You'll be based in the Barnsley office with some local outreach, meeting around five clients a day, mainly in person.

Support varies from CV writing and job searching to confidence-building and accompanying clients into town to hand out CVs. Some clients may already be employed and looking to progress. No formal diagnosis is needed; a flexible, person-led approach is essential.

You will support clients with their employment goals, build referral relationships (e.g., JCP, social prescribers), and connect with local employers. The team works collaboratively toward shared outcomes; it’s all about impact, not pressure.

What’s On Offer

  • A warm, supportive team and strong leadership
  • CPD including IEP membership, suicide awareness, and LGBTQ+ training
  • Strategy days every six months to involve you in the charity’s journey and future direction

Background in support, education, or employability (e.g., Job Coach, Careers Adviser, Social Prescriber, Housing Officer, or Probation Officer) is preferred. However, what matters most is your ability to build rapport, encourage, and adapt, demonstrated through your career history. People with a support worker background are suitable, provided their support focuses on helping people achieve their own goals rather than care-related tasks.

How To Apply

Apply via this advert; we respond to everyone. If you don’t hear back, use the Send Us A Message form on the Red 5 People website or call and ask for David.

Please note: The job title is Employment Advisor but is advertised as a Neurodiversity Coach, which reflects the duties of the role.
