Job summary

Lloyd's Register International is seeking a Personal Assistant to support our nine-year-old autistic son in Livingston. The role is 4 hours per week during term time and 8 hours per week in school holidays, with schedule flexibility and in-home/community activities.

The candidate should be calm, creative, reliable, and experienced with neurodivergent children, able to follow the child's interests, and align with family routines while respecting his communication and sensory preferences.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting neurodivergent children or young people.
• Physically capable to keep up with an energetic 9-year-old.
• Emotionally intelligent, patient, and attuned to non-verbal cues.
• Willingness to join the PVG scheme (employer covers the cost).

Responsibilities

• Spend quality time with the boy, engaging in reading, drawing, music, nature, and storytelling.
• Support emotional regulation using calm, neurodivergent-affirming approaches.
• Build a trusting, consistent relationship to support confidence and autonomy.
• Collaborate with family to ensure comfort, consistency, and explore new places outside the home.
• Respect communication preferences and sensory needs at all times.
• Accompany him to the park, shops, or new places with family approval.
