Job description

Job Title: Specialist Neurodevelopmental Services Lead

The post holder will lead the delivery and development of specialist neurodevelopmental services within the secure environment of HMP Wandsworth and HMP ISIS.

The role involves the assessment, formulation, and implementation of specialist care plans for individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders (including Autism Spectrum Conditions and Learning Disabilities), ensuring continuity of care through collaborative working with prison staff, mental health teams, and external agencies.

The post holder will act as clinical lead to the Neurodevelopmental team and provide direct line management, leadership, and support to junior colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Attend both HMP Wandsworth & HMP ISIS as required.
  2. Provide comprehensive specialist assessments of individuals presenting with suspected neurodevelopmental conditions.
  3. Deliver evidence-based interventions tailored to the specific needs of individuals with ADHD, ASD, and/or Learning Disabilities.
  4. Act as the key clinical lead for neurodevelopmental conditions within the prison setting.
  5. Contribute to multidisciplinary case discussions and care planning.
  6. Ensure that care provided is trauma-informed, person-centred, and culturally sensitive.
  7. Contribute to the planning, development, and leadership of neurodevelopmental services within the secure environment.

Leadership and Management Responsibilities:
  • Provide effective leadership and management to promote high performance standards.

  • Oversee clinical operations, including managing a clinical caseload and ensuring clinics are delivered effectively and efficiently.
  • Play a lead role in developing and delivering an integrated healthcare service team model.
  • Support systems for the collection, triage, and management of referrals.
  • Monitor and audit service quality and effectiveness.
