We are looking for an experienced, motivated and dynamic registered nurse to join our enthusiastic and supportive Neuro Oncology team, who
are committed, driven and passionate about ensuring outstanding patient care that is our highest priority for our complex patients .

This is an exciting opportunity to join an established team as a B6 0.6 WTE Neuro-Oncology CNS and in collaboration with others, further
support and develop the existing CNS (Clinical Nurse Specialist ) service to encompass patients with Neuro Oncology High grade and Low
-grade Brain tumours at all stages of care and treatment, including follow up. We are looking for an individual who is keen to utilise opportunities to
gain clinical, leadership and service development experience as a band 6 within a forward thinking and supportive team. You must be an effective
team player with excellent communication and organisational skills and have the ability to think outside of the box.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide specialist nursing guidance working as a Generic Neuro-Oncology CNS by providing support for patients with high
grade Brain Tumours predominantly but will also support Low-grade Brain tumours (primary) at all stages of care and treatment, including followup. The post holder will utilize skills of clinical expertise, education and management to ensure a seamless service for patients, carers and staff.
The post holder will provide advice, support and information at diagnosis and throughout curative, palliative and terminal phases.
They will work closely with the multidisciplinary team in hospital and the community to ensure a co-ordinated quality service actively involved in
education, audit and research.
National clinical trial recruitment from April 2024 to July 2024 shows that 865 patients have been recruited to Brain and CNS cancer trials across17 research networks. The majority were non-commercial with an even split between interventional and observational trials. There are 13 trialsavailable across the Southwest Region
The APPROACH study is now open which is looking at protons versus photon radiotherapy for low grade gliomas
ARISTORACT is now open, which involves a re-challenge of Temozolomide for relapsed Glioblastoma (GBM) with or without cannabinoids, hasyet to recruit.

The FUTURE GB trial in NBT, comparing a new type of ultrasound imaging for resection of glioblastoma with standard imaging, is on hold but will
be open soon.

DETERMINE is open for all cancers, which again involves gene sequencing for alterations that may respond to existing targeted therapies.
PARADIGM is now coming to an end and is unlikely to go forward to a Phase 3 study due to the associated costs.
BRAIN MATRIX is the Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) trial for all suspected high-grade gliomas.. NBT and the BHOC are working
collaboratively to recruit mutual patients
The post holder will engage in discussions in multidisciplinary team meetings, including the Teenage and Young People MDT meeting, where
appropriate and in the absence of the Band 7 CNS, will present patients, acting as an advocate for all patients with a diagnosis of primary brain
tumours and contributing to the transition from paediatric to adult services where appropriate. The post holder will support at diagnosis and end oflife as per the NICE guidelines.
