Job summary

We are currently seeking a Network Support Engineer to join our team in Fully Remote, Tokyo (JP-13), Japan (JP).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure and install network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, QoS, proxy)
  • Full understanding of WAN/LAN internetworking, OSI Layer, TCP-IP models and routing protocols.
  • Knowledge of Wireless, Cloud Proxies i.e. Zscaler, SD-WAN.
  • Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Perform network diagnostics using tools like Wireshark, SolarWinds, or similar
  • Troubleshoot escalated issues from L1 support and resolve complex network incidents
  • Liaise with vendors and regional teams for issue resolution and upgrades.
  • Maintain documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures.
  • Adhere to ITIL processes (incident, change, and problem management)
  • Provide timely updates to stakeholders on critical issues and progress.
  • Participate in capacity planning and performance tuning
  • Follow escalation matrix and ensure SLA compliance
  • Ability to converse with native Japanese customers in local Japanese and work with Global team in English

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
  • 3–4 years of experience in network support or engineering
  • Certifications: CCNA / CCNP / ZPA / ZIA is a plus
  • Strong understanding of OSI/TCP-IP models and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF)
  • Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing tools
  • Exposure to Zscaler technology is a plus
  • Familiarity with network security practices and tools.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) English and Japanese
