Job summary

Bright Purple is seeking a Network Support Engineer in Scotland with hybrid working options. You will triage and resolve security incidents in a live production environment, monitor network traffic, and support customer maintenance and upgrades.

The role includes incident response and contributing to SOC knowledge bases. Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in SOC/IT support or networking, strong TCP/IP and packet analysis skills, and willingness to work nights/weekends in a rotating shift.

Job description

Network Support Engineer Scotland - Scotland/Hybrid Schedule: 4 Day week Rotating shift (includes nights/weekends) Salary Up to £65,000 As a Security Services Engineer, you ll gain hands-on experience protecting live production environments from DDoS attacks and other network threats you will be working shoulder-to-shoulder with customers when the pressure is highest.

The Role:
  • Triage and resolve security incidents and customer tickets in a live production environment (1st/2nd line support).
  • Monitor, analyse, and investigate network traffic and emerging threats, including active DDoS activity.
  • Support customer maintenance, upgrades, and technical communications.
  • Contribute to incident response and post-incident reviews that sharpen our detection and mitigation playbooks.
  • Work within ITIL processes (Incident, Change, Problem, Service Requests). Document procedures, grow the SOC knowledge base, and share what you learn with the team.
  • Continuously level up your expertise across cybersecurity, networking.
What we re looking for:
  • 1 2 years experience in a SOC, IT support, networking, or similar technical role.
  • Strong networking fundamentals TCP/IP, routing, and packet analysis with solid troubleshooting instincts.
  • The ability to prioritise, stay organised, and communicate clearly under pressure.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, shift-based environment (including nights and weekends).
Nice to have:
  • Experience with SIEM tools (Splunk preferred).
  • Working knowledge of DDoS attacks and network security concepts.
  • Familiarity with virtualisation technologies (KVM, ESXi).
  • Linux and basic scripting or automation skills (Python, Bash). Industry certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, CySA+, or CyberOps.
