Job Description:

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Network Solutions Architect to work for our client within the defence sector. This is initially a 6-month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role that can be based in Bristol, Chippenham, Reading or Hemel Hempstead.

Our client is seeking a Network Solutions Architect with at least 5 years’ experience to join their Defence Solution Design Authority practice. You will be working as a trusted industry partner to their defence customer and cross-functionally supporting internal business units (Sales, Business, Technology, Security and Operations), key stakeholders and externally facing third-party technology providers as part of and reporting into the practice manager. You will be part of an industry-leading Solution Design Authority team working closely with other architects, designers, technology experts, business managers, and business analysts. Your expertise and diverse experience will be crucial in each challenge, ensuring successful solution delivery across highly sensitive and unique opportunities and projects.

You will play a pivotal role in designing and developing scalable, secure, and high-performance network infrastructure solutions. Your work will support the client’s extensive network ecosystem, spanning cloud, data centres, and enterprise systems. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement the latest networking technologies that ensure seamless performance for both internal and customer-facing services.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging with the customer, business stakeholders, and key partners in providing end-to-end architecture governance, leadership, and solution decision-making aligned to the Solution Design Authority architecture principles
  • Developing and owning enterprise architecture artefacts, strategies, and roadmaps from a business and technology perspective, including ‘as-is’, ‘to-be’, and transitional states addressing key stakeholder viewpoints and requirements
  • Providing subject matter expertise to business key stakeholders and units in providing consultative customer engagement, shaping, and qualifying complex service change, delivery, and resource profile requirements
  • Owning and engaging key stakeholders and business units in responding to complex in-contract customer requests for information, contract change notifications, solution design proposals, and winning new business bids
  • Providing and owning architecture deliverable outcomes such as proof of concept, technological solution whitepapers, bid (PQQ, ITT), high-level design collateral addressing the customers’ viewpoints and complex requirements
