Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Network Service Technician to join our team at Thames Water. This is a customer-facing role where you will resolve network challenges to minimize disruption to customer supply.

You will meet and assist various customers daily, working on diverse projects to ensure excellent service. No prior experience is necessary as comprehensive training will be provided, just a desire to learn and strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities
  1. Operate the mains network, control burst mains, and manage isolation for planned work, repairs, and maintenance.
  2. Take ownership of customer issues, respond to queries and complaints, and resolve problems.
  3. Ensure water quality compliance during repairs.
  4. Act as a local network expert for isolation and rezoning, providing information for risk assessments and sharing network safety information.
  5. Investigate the clean water network to resolve issues like pressure problems, leaks, metering, and supply loss.
  6. Follow company procedures, including safety, business operations, and streetworks legislation.
Location and Working Pattern

Base location: Reading - Fobney, RG2 0SF, covering the Thames Valley area. Working hours: 38 hours with a rotation of late shifts and standby duties every 8 weeks.

Requirements
  • Valid UK driving license and willingness to travel between sites.
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience in customer service in a dynamic environment.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Experience in domestic plumbing, water mains, or leakage is advantageous but not essential.
  • Qualifications like NVQ Level 2, City & Guilds, GCSEs are desirable.
  • IT skills for communication via portable devices.
  • Excellent customer service and time management skills.
  • Positive, can-do attitude.
