Job description

A leading independent logistics provider is seeking a Network Security Engineer with expertise in Cisco DNA and Cisco Firepower to join its team. This role is 80% focused on network security, encompassing both project work and business-as-usual (BAU) operations to maintain a secure and efficient network infrastructure. Hybrid work model – work from home with 2 days per month in Dartford.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, maintain, and optimize network and security platforms, including routers, switches, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and cloud technologies.
  • Manage Cisco-based network security, including firewalls, VPNs, and NAC.
  • Monitor network traffic, troubleshoot issues, and improve efficiency.
  • Implement and manage secure remote access and VPN solutions.
  • Oversee PKI management, certificate issuance, and revocation.
  • Recommend and deploy network/security enhancements.
  • Develop technical specifications, rollout plans, and provide BAU support.
  • Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams and work with third parties to optimize systems and enforce security policies.

Requirements

  • Experience deploying, administering, and maintaining network infrastructure, including routers, switches, wireless solutions, and firewalls.
  • Strong knowledge of IDS/IPS technologies to detect and prevent security threats.
  • Ability to manage network security protocols, ensuring proper encryption and access control.
  • Experience monitoring network traffic for performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud security and network security for cloud-based applications.
  • Skilled in implementing and administering remote access technologies and VPN solutions.
  • Strong analytical skills for diagnosing network issues and identifying security threats.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with IT teams, management, and vendors.
