Job summary

Opticore IT is seeking a Network Security Engineer to focus on project deliverables for an enterprise broadcast media client. The initial 12-month contract sits inside IR35 with one day onsite per week in White City, London.

You will implement approved designs across cloud networks, work with an architect and project manager, and support day-to-day security operations and disaster recovery testing.

Qualifications

• BGP networking knowledge.
• Disaster Recovery planning and execution.
• General security concepts and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Opengear: Remotely access, diagnose, and restore network devices when the main network is down; maintain the out-of-band path.
• Palo Alto Firewalls: Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot firewalls, including policy and NAT changes.
• Proxmox: Build and maintain virtual infrastructure for testing and disaster recovery.
• Disaster Recovery: Follow the client's existing DRS during recovery work and DR testing; document actions taken.
• General security: Provide broad day-to-day support across the network security estate, escalating deeper specialist issues as needed.
• Zscaler: Understand how ZPA/ZIA fit into the network, triage basic issues (blocked sites, auth failures, outages).
• Basic training will be provided; deep Zscaler experience is not required or expected.
