Job summary

Meta is seeking a highly motivated engineer to help scale a global network serving billions of users. You will rotate through Backbone, Data Center, and Network Infrastructure teams, building and maintaining multi-vendor networks and developing automation for reliable performance.

You will work on designing new architectures, monitoring enhancements, and automated remediation, while learning advanced concepts in networking and programming across Python, Golang, Rust or C++.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or have completed Bachelor's degree prior to joining Meta.
• Experience with UNIX, TCP/IP, and networking fundamentals.
• Coding experience in Python, Golang, Rust, or C++.
• Experience with multi-vendor data center networking.
• Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Work authorization in the country of employment.

Responsibilities

• Join rotational experiences with Backbone, Data Center, and Network Infrastructure Engineering teams in the first year.
• Build, manage and maintain multi-vendor, multi-protocol data center and backbone networks.
• Develop optimized network monitoring systems.
• Design and deploy new network architectures.
• Develop automated methods to mitigate and remediate network events.
• Analyze data to diagnose and identify root causes of network issues.
• Participate in deep technical discussions.
• Develop and maintain consistency within the network infrastructure.

This will be your network and it is constantly growing. Your primary function will be to ensure that the network is reliable, robust and can scale to meet the challenges that serving over a billion users presents. 1. 1. Build experience with Backbone, Data Center, and Network Infrastructure Engineering teams through rotational experiences during your first year
2. 2. Build, manage and maintain multi-vendor, multi-protocol data center and backbone networks
3. 3. Develop optimized network monitoring systems
4. 4. Design, and deploy new network architectures
5. 5. Develop automated methods to mitigate and remediate network events
6. 6. Analyze data to diagnose and identify root causes to network issues
7. 7. Be an active participant in deep technical discussions
8. 8. Develop and maintain consistency within the network infrastructure
9. 9. Experience learning new concepts around network design and management
10. 10. Experience with UNIX, TCP/IP, network fundamentals, or similar
11. 11. Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
12. 12. Experience with computer networks
13. 13. Experience coding in at least one language (Python/Golang/Rust/C++ are all in use)
14. 14. Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta

Preferred Qualifications:

1. 15. Knowledge of Switching and Routing concepts and implementation
2. 16. Knowledge of routing protocols BGP, OSPF and ISIS
3. 17. Knowledge of tunneling protocols MPLS, GRE, IPnIP
4. 18. Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
5. 19. Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
6. 20. Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
